Leonard, based on your comments I have to assume you are a completely perfect specimen of humanity and christianity and are therefore perfectly positioned to pass judgement on other people, yes? Homophobic too I bet? If you will never have to make the decision whether or not to have an abortion, what gives you the right to dictate to those who will face that decision? It has nothing to do with you. A foetus is not a person, a living and breathing woman should have the right to make her own choices regarding her own body.

The bill, I referred too in my previous email was Deputy Claire Daly’s private members bill that was presented for debate in the Dail a month ago. Thankfully, it was defeated but the battle has just began with regard to keeping abortion out of Ireland for good.

There is never a medical reason for killing a unborn child. There is a clear ethical distinction between necessary medical interventions in pregnancy where every effort is made to save the baby and induced abortion where the baby’s life is intentionally targeted.

1. Without abortion, Ireland has the lowest rate of maternal mortality in the world.

2. Where a medical problem arises in the course of pregnancy, all necessary treatment to save a mother’s life is already provided, while every effort is made to save her baby too and that is something to be very proud of.

3. A growing body of medical evidence concludes that abortion poses a significant psychological, as well as physical, threat to the mother. As more and more women are coming forward to testify, the truth is undeniable – abortion hurts women and most importantly, those who supported or speak in favour of this bill favoured the killing of an innocent human being at any time between conception until birth.

Abortion is the right of the woman and her child. The only contract is between them on a soul level, so how dare the men of god and others interfere in something which is none of their business. The Catholic Cult has had control over women and their wombs for thousands of years now, dictating which woman can live and which can die.
All those lies about virgin Mary- when the real meaning of a virgin was a priestess who lived in a temple and had children without marring a man. The institution of marriage of course was created to keep the women and children under the control of the males.
